Wilpaca’s Sophia (ARI # 802895) – born June 8,1998, is an important member of our foundation herd, a beautiful toffee color with luscious fiber, full coverage, excellent conformity and a personality that can only make you smile. At two and half years old, her micron count was 22.2 and, as and she ages, her fiber continues to have lovely handle, length and luster. Sophia has lovely dark brown eyes that peer out from behind long locks of coffee colored bangs. We have sheared as much as 8 lbs. of beautiful blanket fleece from this animal. Sophia’s Sire is Peruvian Infiniti (ARI # 140211) and her Dam is Lanark’s Vanessa (ARI # 135432). Upon purchase, Sophia was initially bred to Peruvian Kaballero (ARI # 154965) by Bruce and Lori Henry, Wilpaca Farm, and her first cria was born on our farm September 22, 2000. We named this female cria, Isabella Beau (ARI # 825695). As Sophia was named for a Queen of Spain, we followed suit with another Spanish Queen, Isabella. Sophia had a second cria born the fall of 2002 sired by Maple Brook Hummer (ARI #176341), who we named Isadora Duncan (ARI #1304855) for the well-known dancer who created modern dance at the turn of the 20th century. In autumn of 2002, Sophia was bred to dark brown AC Masked Crusader (ARI # 811673), award winning son of the fabulous well-known herdsire PPPeruvian Fortissimo (ARI # 139295), winner of a bevy of blue ribbons. Sophia's third cria, Alpacatrax Frappuccino, (ARI registration# pending), was born on our farm in the fall of 2003. Sophia continues to have wonderful crias as a ‘grand dame’ of our premium herd. |
